Client-Side Privacy Guarantee

100% Private & Client-Side: All calculations, conversions, and history items are computed locally in your browser memory. No equations or data are ever transmitted to external servers.

What is this?

An all-in-one web calculator designed for software engineers, students, and scientists. It seamlessly transitions between standard arithmetic, scientific functions (trigonometry, logarithms, factorials), and programmer bitwise operations with real-time HEX, DEC, OCT, and BIN representations.

Key Features & Concepts

  • Standard Mode: Basic arithmetic, percentages, sign toggling, and backspace controls
  • Scientific Mode: Trigonometric functions (DEG/RAD), logarithms (ln, log10), powers (xʸ, eˣ), roots, factorials, and mathematical constants (π, e)
  • Programmer Mode: Instant base conversion across Hexadecimal (HEX), Decimal (DEC), Octal (OCT), and Binary (BIN) with active base digit locking
  • Bitwise Logic Engine: AND, OR, XOR, NOT, NAND, NOR, and bit-shift operations (<<, >>)
  • Full Keyboard Support: Type numbers, operators, and hex letters directly from your keyboard
  • Calculation History: Automatically tracks past equations with one-click recall and local persistence
  • Copy to Clipboard: One-click copying of calculation results
  • 100% Client-Side: Zero server processing or data logging

How to Use

  1. Select your desired calculation mode (Standard, Scientific, or Programmer) using the mode tabs at the top.
  2. Use the on-screen keypad or your physical keyboard to enter numbers and arithmetic operators.
  3. In Scientific mode, toggle between Degrees (DEG) and Radians (RAD) for trigonometric operations like sin, cos, and tan.
  4. In Programmer mode, click between HEX, DEC, OCT, and BIN to switch active input bases and view real-time representations across all bases.
  5. Click the equals (=) button or press Enter to evaluate the expression.
  6. Access past calculations from the History panel on the side and click any previous result to reuse it.

Common Use Cases

  • Software Engineers working with memory bitmasks, bitwise flags, and binary data protocols
  • Students and Educators solving math, physics, and computer science coursework
  • Web Designers inspecting RGB/Hex color byte conversions and responsive layout math

Practical Examples

  • Standard: Calculating a 15% tip or discount: 120 × 0.15 = 18
  • Scientific: Finding hypotenuse length with sine in degrees: sin(30°) = 0.5
  • Programmer Bitwise: Masking bit flags in binary: 0b1010 AND 0b1100 = 0b1000 (DEC 8, HEX 0x8)
  • Base Conversion: Converting color hex code component 0xFF to Decimal -> 255

Limitations & Technical Notes

  • JavaScript Floating Point Precision: Uses standard IEEE-754 double precision floats (e.g., 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004). Precision rounding is automatically applied to display output.
  • Bitwise Word Size: Programmer bitwise operations operate on 32-bit signed integers in accordance with JavaScript bitwise operator specs.
  • Factorials are limited to non-negative integers up to n = 170 due to IEEE-754 float infinity limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I switch between Degrees and Radians in Scientific mode?

Click the "DEG / RAD" toggle button in the top bar of the Scientific keypad. The active mode is highlighted.

How does the base conversion work in Programmer mode?

When you select HEX, DEC, OCT, or BIN, the keypad automatically enables only the valid digits for that base. Changing the active base instantly converts your input number.

Can I use keyboard shortcuts?

Yes! Numbers (0-9), basic operators (+, -, *, /), Enter (=), Backspace (delete), and Escape (clear) work directly. In Programmer mode, keys A-F enter hex values when Hex base is selected.
