Notes, Bookmarks & Personal Library Guide

Discover how to build a searchable, local-first knowledge base using TechTube's timestamped notes, saved bookmarks, private watch history, and unified library analytics.

1. Personal Productivity & Knowledge System

TechTube integrates four personal productivity pillars: Timestamped Notes (/notes), Saved Bookmarks (/bookmarks), Local Watch History (/history), and the Personal Library (/library).

Every record is stored locally on your device via IndexedDB, requiring no login and maintaining 100% privacy.

2. Timestamped Video Notes & Markdown

While watching any video lesson, type your summary or key takeaway into the notes panel.

Why Timestamped Notes Are Powerful:
  • Auto-Timestamping: The note automatically captures your current playback position (e.g. 12:34).
  • Instant Video Seeking: When reviewing notes on /notes, click any timestamp badge to open the video at that exact second.
  • Markdown Support: Use headers, code blocks (```js ... ```), lists, and bold text.
  • Full-Text Search: Quickly search through all your historical notes by keyword.

3. Saved Bookmarks & Watch Later

Click the bookmark ribbon icon on any video card or player page to save it to your local library.

Visit /bookmarks to browse your saved references, sort by date added, or remove finished tutorials with a single click.

4. Local Watch History & Resume Playback

TechTube logs your recent video lessons locally so you can resume interrupted studies.

• Zero Cloud Telemetry: History records exist only inside your browser's IndexedDB.

• Resume Playback: Click any history entry on /history to jump directly back to your last saved position.

• One-Click Clear: Clear individual history entries or wipe the entire history table instantly.

5. Personal Library & Progress Analytics

The Personal Library Hub aggregates all your metrics into an overview dashboard:

📝 NotesSaved timestamp notes
🔖 BookmarksSaved video references
🏆 Quiz ScorePractice accuracy
🗺️ MilestonesRoadmap progress

6. Backing Up & Exporting Data (JSON)

Because your data is stored locally in your browser, we recommend generating a JSON backup before clearing browser cookies or switching computers.

Visit the Privacy Center and click "Export All Local Data (JSON)". This downloads a complete archive of your notes, bookmarks, watch history, practice records, and Code Lab projects.

7. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I access my notes on another device?

Because TechTube does not use remote user accounts, notes stay on the device where they were created. You can export your JSON backup and import it onto another computer via Privacy Center.
